Reflexology is a deeply restorative treatment originating from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Often referred to as "acupuncture without the needles", reflexology is based on the principle that there are points on the feet that correspond to every part, gland, and organ of the body through thousands of nerve endings and meridians.
By applying subtle pressure on specific areas on the feet to activate a healing response in the corresponding area of the body. Blood flow is stimulated, triggering the release of endorphins and retained toxins, treating a wide range of specific conditions to complement conventional medical treatment, and re-balancing the mind and emotions.
Key to this is the ability to bring the body back into balance (homeostasis) and stimulate the natural healing process. Your body knows how to heal itself given the right conditions.
It is now known that 75% of all illnesses are stress-related, so reflexology is the perfect solution for treatment and prevention.
Reflexology not only addresses physical ailments but also targets emotional and mental stress. In today's fast-paced world, stress has become a pervasive issue affecting overall well-being. By incorporating reflexology into one's wellness routine, individuals can experience profound relaxation and emotional release. This holistic approach not only alleviates physical discomfort but also fosters mental clarity and emotional resilience.
Through the gentle manipulation of reflex points on the feet, reflexology promotes a sense of calm and inner balance, allowing individuals to tap into their body's innate capacity for healing. As more people recognise the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, reflexology emerges as a valuable tool for promoting holistic health and vitality.
The effects of the treatment can be immediate and powerful. Following treatments, clients feel lighter, centred and energized
Research has shown Reflexology to be effective and beneficial in many ways, such as:
• Reducing stress, anxiety and depression and improve wellbeing
• Alleviating many acute and chronic conditions
• Revitalizing Energy
• Cleansing toxins and impurities (a major cause of disease)
• Boosting circulation and purifies the lymphatic system
• Balancing the whole body (mentally, physically, and spiritually)
• Promoting better sleep
• Boosting the immune system
• Improving blood and nerve supply to the muscles;
• Reducing pain and improves flexibility and mobility
When you arrive, we will discuss any symptoms you are experiencing to allow me to tailor the treatment to your specific needs
Your comfort is my priority to help you absorb as much as possible from your Reflexology, generally, this involves lying on a plinth/massage bed, or reclining Reflexology chair with the support of pillows and blankets. This therapy is worked primarily on the feet, and sometimes also on the lower calves
You may feel tenderness in the feet — this is an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body. In general, the experience will be pleasant and relaxing. You might feel so relaxed that you fall asleep, or you could feel a rush of emotions as energy moves through your body
What am I likely to experience after Reflexology?
I recommend you to go with the flow of your energy. If you feel tired, rest. If you feel energised, do something that you enjoy, without over exertion. It is important to retain as much of the benefit of the treatment as possible. Drinking water helps with the detoxification process and helps you have more energy and alertness. Experiencing physical or emotional reactions are a normal part of the healing process and good sign of a shift occurring and will pass after 12/24 hours
Reflexology is fantastic as a once-off treatment to take some time out for self-care. If you choose a course of treatments on average 4-6 sessions are recommended (with long-standing problems possibly needing up to 6-8 sessions). Once your body has regained its balance, an occasional treatment will stimulate your immune system and maintain your well-being
About Fertility Reflexology
Reflexology is hugely supportive for a range of issues that can impact a person’s fertility both female and male, regulating bodily systems to encourage natural conception. Regulating your hormones, balancing your menstrual cycle and resolving any issues which may be hindering fertility such as hormone in balances, polycystic ovaries, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, low sperm count or stress
Stress is a big factor when it comes to conceiving. When we are stressed, our body prioritises vital functions such as thinking, moving, seeing allowing us to quickly assess and react to challenges. In this heightened state, our reproductive, digestive and repair functions are paused. When we relax, energy is restored to these areas. Reflexology brings you back to this relaxed state and by working directly on your hormonal system and reproductive system, helping to restore function and increase your chances of conceiving
Reflexology and Conventional Medicine
If you are undergoing tests to find out the cause of infertility, need to undertake a course of fertility drugs, or are embarking on assisted conception such as IVF, reflexology can be of great help to you. This is because it is a supporting or complementary therapy, and as such, will not harm the treatments you are undergoing or take the place of them. The reflexology can support your body physically, but just as importantly, it will give you needed mental support, giving you the strength and positivity that you need in order to stave off anxiety and give the treatment the best possible chance of succeeding
